Very nice!

Is it just me or is that coco perfect for Halloween? I see creepy little faces looking at me. Maybe I should stop staring at that cool grain too long.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, or derail the thread, it's a beautiful wood choice you have there. Congrats on getting your custom by Xmas!

I'm just wondering what the builder has to say about the different woods moving at different rates with humidity changes. I know that when gluing up veneered panels for furniture you need a center piece with the grain running at 90 degrees to the outer pieces to make sure the panel doesn't crack over time. It's why plywood always has an odd number of "plys". I'd be especially worried because the exterior is finished and the interior is not.

Great question, and a valid concern. When looking at humidity changes, really the whole guitar is susceptible, not just the sides. The top and the braces glued to it, the back and the braces glued to it, the neck, and everything in between can move or change with humidity. And that, my friend, is why it's so important to keep your guitar, and especially a lightly built guitar, in a strict humidity controlled environment. Take it beyond the recommended humidity ranges and you risk cracks, swelling, buzzes, action issues and so on. They're finicky little contraptions, but well worth the effort

Hi Joel:

Can I ask what the recommended humidity range is for this type of guitar? I think Greg will chat with you at some point next year on my coco/LS build and sound hole designs!!

Lovely guitar btw!

Sure thing! 45% humidity is perfect. The guitar was built in 45% humidity, so the closer to that mark, the better. 50% won't kill it, nor will 40%, but if you can keep it right in between, you guitar will love you for it.
