Has anyone had a chance to play one of these? I have to say that whenever I've seen one of late, my tongue begins to hang out in sheer lust! Do they sound and play as good as they look?

I haven't, but I've seen John Pisano play one in close quarters. It sounded great, but I wouldn't expect any less under the circumstances.

No doubt. Still, it does look like a beautiful instrument.

I have a Pisano 880. Great neck that plays like butter and sounds great too. A very 'acoustic' tone compared to say an ES-175.
