Default New Classical Parlor from Rainsong

I've had this beauty for about a week and I'm loving it! I've been playing a lot of nylon string guitar lately... I really enjoy the sound and it's a welcome change when your fingers are sore from playing your steel strings too much. I also really love Rainsong's new Marine Burst finish! Like most burst finishes, this one is difficult to capture with a camera. The fade is a lot more subtle to the naked eye. Great comments from everyone who has seen this finish in person. The Rainsong plays and sounds beautifully and the CF durability gives me the ability to play outside when the weather otherwise dictates that fine guitars stay indoors. (Bah!) This one is also equipped with electronics and strap buttons so it's set up for live use, too. I haven't plugged it into my effects chain yet but that's coming soon.

Very neat looking guitar. Look forward to hearing more of your comments.

There's nothing about a nylon stringed (classical?) model on the web site. What is the nut width on that one?

You chased me out when I posted a pic of my carbon fiber Classical guitar too.

Lighten up.

He's looking for it on the Rainsong web site. I believe.

The model is NP12M. The nut is 1 3/4" and the string spacing is 2 11/64". The scale is 24.875".

This is listed on Rainsong's website here:

http://www.rainsong.com/models/np12.asp

A little better shot of the finish...

Thanks for the info J.R. I was mildly interested but that narrow nut width is a deal breaker.

I would be interested in your assessment of the sound as compared to a standard classical. Sustain, clarity and balance across the strings, and volume. I have a steel string parlor which is a fantastic guitar, but having had a lot of experience with classicals it seems they are somewhat more fickle in the lower price ranges. If the steel string is any clue, then this could be an exception. I like the dimensions. My standard classical is a custom 640 scale and 48 nut, but on a traditional body size.

Hello, Jon! I'm afraid that I wouldn't be the best person to assess the sound as compared to a standard classical because I haven't spent much time exploring that instrument. On it's own, it's a compact and comfortable little guitar that sounds good and has great action. I've been writing new songs with it so it definitely has an inspiring vibe for me. It has a narrower and shorter neck for certain but it sounds like with your favored specs that you're nearly there already.

I have entered the nylon string guitar zone about six months ago and really love it. I bought a Cordoba Fusion 12. It is 1 7/8' wide with a slight radius. I'm getting into not only classical music but Latin style rhythm too and that size neck works great for me. Very cool guitar you have there!!

Here is a video from LA Guitar Sales comparing 14-fret and 12-fret Nylon Parlor prototypes. Thanks to Ted for sharing this video

So sorry to hear about the narrow nut width, deal-killer for me as well. Heavy sigh...
