Americans ?

Loved Stephen Wright in his day.
Robin Williams (totally different style of course).
Rich Hall (and his great documentaries).
Reginald D Hunter.

Very struck by (Canadian) Katherine Ryan (perhaps for the wrong reason)

British ?

Simon Evans (love his middle aged middle class bitterness)
Peter Kay is Verrry clever.
Al Murray (the pub landlord)
Noel Fielding (makes me laugh just to look at him)
Les Barker (comical poet)
John Hegley (pop poet)
Barry Cryer (one of the old bunch)
Shappi Korsandi

Gone but not forgotten :
Tommy Cooper (died onstage)
Victoria Wood
Spike Milligan
Peter Ustinov
Kenneth Williams

and many may more.

Can't be a "wrong reason" if she's funny, she's funny. I enjoy Natasha Leggero and Chelsea Handler as well. Nothing wrong with funny and gorgeous.

My all time favorite has to be Jackie Gleason for The Honeymooners, and later, for The Jackie Gleason Show.

He made me laugh when I was a kid, and now that I'm 63, I still laugh at those old Honeymooners episodes.

Saw Jay Leno twice at a small comedy clubs back in the early '80's. His stand-up was the funniest stuff I've ever seen. Didn't care for him nearly so much in his Tonight Show gig.

I suppose it's a jump ball between Richard Pryor and George Carlin. But the great one we lost too early was Bill Hicks.
