I would describe it as useful feedback from a reputable source.

I couldn't find your thread. What did you make?

So as not to let this go unanswered, I would be the ...

Nahhh, I just can't be those, they are...
too zingy, dull sounding, floppy, bright, harsh, rough on the fingers, stain my fingers, hurt my fingers, covered in plastic, not covered in plastic, slippery, squeaky, short life span, won't stay in tune, hard to bend, corrode easily, don't sound good with Rosewood, don't sound good with Mahogany, break easily, sound like banjo strings, no sustain, too much sustain, etc., etc., ad infinitum. (and beyond)

One size never fits all. I think that's a good thing.
I've appreciated all your comments on the strings. All the way through to the conclusion you've been fair and simply given your perspective. A perspective which by the way carries far more weight than those from people who haven't tried the strings.

Your final analysis couldn't have been more honest and revealing. I benefited from your thread, thanks!

Thanks for the review Jamie. I had a pack in my hands a couple of days ago but in AGF speak "l couldn't pull the trigger"

You folks are too kind.
I appreciate the compliments and the best part is I think everyone has at least some semblance of what to expect for their hard-earned money.

You're not the only one. I've had a set for a couple weeks. Had my D-18 on the operating table ready for the string change the day after the strings arrived. At the last minute I gave her a strum so I'd remember how the less-than-a-month-old Elixirs already on it sounded. The guitar sounded so sweet I chickened out. If it ain't broke don't fix it...etc.

Elixirs usually last me a couple months. So I'm sure those strings will end up on one guitar or another...but they all sound so good right now I'm in no hurry to experiment.

The Martin Titanium strings on my CEO-7 needed changing after 55 hours of play. The treble strings still sound fine but the low E and A strings started sounding off. I was in and out of drop D tuning the entire time but the low E lasted just a long as the A string.

On an economic life cycle basis the Martin Titanium strings are much more expensive than the Martin Retros I normally use. But I really prefer the sound and playability of the Titanium so will use them again I think. I put Retros back on as a sanity check but will use Titanium again with the next string change. Will have to keep my eye out for discounts.

I think the Titaniums are indeed very good strings. Tone, playability and longevity are all there. I just don't know if they will be worth it for most folks.
Likely be the string of choice for certain guitarists and certain guitars.
I really liked them. $40 is a lot. That's my honest opinion.

When testing, the time to take the 'old' strings off is when they still sound at their best so you have a clear reference; new strings will always sound better than dead strings. Losing a good set is the price of testing.

Yep...and the point is that I wasn’t ready to pay that price then. Or now. Maybe later.
