Default Squier VM Bass VI reissue - it's about time!

Just saw these in the new Sam Ash flyer @ $349 - dead-on in almost all respects to the '60s original except for the non-locking trem ($60 to the Fender parts department and a couple hours setup time will fix that) and lack of a flip-up string mute (lotsa guys remove them, but I'm a fan); seriously thinking of pulling the trigger, but I'm curious whether anyone has tried and/or A-B'd one against the Pawn Shop version (at twice the price) before I lay out the bucks...
