Are you using the correct pad for your guitars radius? Perhaps your guitar has an unsusual radius or you are missing an insert.

This was exactly my experience with the G7th, ie not really doing the job at the first fret.

Agree with all that and would add that the changeable pads are pretty useless if you have more than one guitar.

I’m not sure where I’ve put the one I bought but I can’t say I’m missing it.

I find Shubb very hard to beat for use and price.

Glad to hear they work on your guitar and that you’re ok with them. They just weren’t for me. These do come with several different pads (which is a great concept) but I tried them all and none worked 100% (and, no, it’s not my Martin as it is in top shape having been set up by an awesome Luthier).

All I can add is try them. You keep them if you like them or return them for a full refund if not. Nothing to lose, really.

I've had similar issues finding pads that fit several of my guitars, after spending a couple of hours attempting to do so. Ultimately I'll keep the Thalia for my Taylor custom and use my G7th for the rest. Disappointing that a capo so expensive and beautiful has such limited versatility.

Not if you buy one for each guitar like I did.

Just making sure you know that the XL pads for 12 strings do not come with the Thalia unless you ask for them.

I have one. They aren't bad but I prefer the Thalia because it's much quicker changing fret positions then the Shubb.

I don't use a capo in performance, but for demos, recording and jamming I have been a diehard Shubb user for close to 40 years. Sometimes I have to play around with the positioning to get it right, but it's worked well.

Recently, I tried a Thalia, choosing the correct radius for Larrivee guitars. Wow. No adjustment or fiddling needed. Perfect intonation. I'm impressed.

If I ever decide to use a capo in performance, it will definitely be the Thalia.

I have a Shubb and I have a second generation (the current model) Thalia. I use the Thalia about 90 percent of the time on my guitars. My Shubb is great but I like my Thalia better as it gives me better intonation and with the correct pad inserted it gives me better conforming to the radius of the fretboard. And I do not find my Thalia to feel any heavier than my Shubb.

In the end, though, buy what you like but if you do not give each type (Thalia, Shubb, etc) at least an honest try for a couple of weeks you are only depriving yourself of finding what works best for you.

Beautiful capo for sure. Unfortunately it doesn't work on my Martin 12 string.
I find it easy to use and I have some arthritis in my hand.

They are a bit pricey but you buy one of their B-Stock capos for $45, still a bit pricey but worth it IMO. In fact, the're currently offering B-Stocks for sale.
Just google thalia capos b-stock. Great customer service by the way.

I have a Thalia and have had issues with buzzing in the lower positions on my SJ200 and especially my Taylor 12. I heard about the XL pads here and order them. Now the Thalia works on my SJ200 but the 12 string is still a no go.

The only capo I have that works on ALL my guitars flawlessly is my (extra wide) G7th Heritage.

I sold my Thalia a week or two ago, and purchased a G7th Performance 2 and a Newport. Much preferred the Performance 2 and returned the Newport. I'm a happy camper now. The Performance 2 can also be clamped on the headstock...perfect. My 000-28 has volutes so resting on the nut isn't an option.

The Thalia capo is an epic fail and a complete gimmick.

It's ridiculously bulky and has received an exceptional number of complaints since its introduction.

It may look semi nice and colourful on its own -- but put it on a guitar and it looks ridiculous.

Here's a semi inventor who needed funds to get started (always a bad sign), came up with a poorly designed product that answers a need that doesn't exist.
