Default New YouTube vid by Larry Pattis "Hands of Time"

I've enjoyed Larry's playing and style for several years, and it's always great to be able to see as well as listen to his playing. He put up a new video yesterday with one of my favorites - "Hands of Time".

I especially like Larry's "musicality" - by which I mean everything he is doing (and not doing) that adds to the presentation of the piece. So, for me, the pauses, the sustains, the runs and fills, all add together and I think result in a masterful delivery.

Cheers all!

Phil

I agree. Wonderful music.

There are better known guitar players out there (some of whom are wonderful), but few of them impress me the way some of the folks do like Larry who frequent this forum. Larry Pattis, and Doug Young as well, come up with some of the nicest arrangements and original pieces I have encountered, and their performances are simply fabulous - wonderfully nuanced, great tone, very muscial, very beautiful, and very tasteful - not overly ornate, flashy, or over the top just to be impressive, but carefully constructed and performed to make a wonderful musical statement.

That is one of my favorite songs from Larry and that was beautifully done. How interesting to hear it on the Larrivee parlor guitar. Thank you for that link -- it was wonderful!

That's my favorite piece (so far) from Larry. Just beautiful, played with perfect tempo and touch... a real treat. And that PV-09 sounds fantastic. Thanks for the link! We're lucky to have musicians of Larry's caliber as active members of this forum.

Good, crisp playing, nice sound, good technique. The music is very nice, vaguely reminding me of an old Bruce Cockburn instrumental: Islands in a Black Sky. http://mp3shake.com/en/Bruce_Cockbur..._download.html

Thanks, Larry.

I didn't know Larry played a Larrivee and I was going to ask him that question.

Larry - fantastic playing!
