Smile Finishing...

The box is off to Tony for finish.
And John kindly gave me one more FB side marker at the 17th fret. And silver dots for frets 7 and 12.
He has some ideas for a tinted finish on the neck.
We are going gloss on the neck as I use and highly recommend Kyser Dr. Stringfellow string cleaner for the back of the neck as well as the strings after every performance. It makes things nice and clean and slick.

Now the waiting gets intense!!! Haha

Please check my FS listings for some very nice guitars. (But not quite this nice!)

I need to rustle up some moolah to pay Maestro JK!!!

Cheers and play on AGF!

Paul

I just had a thought, maybe when I retire instead of doing a trip around the country to visit all the baseball parks like some do, maybe a trip around the country stopping at your favorite luthier shops would be cool although probably pretty expensive....like going to a chocolate shop and trying not to buy anything!

John, as Tom said, you got it made brother! Looking out that window is enough to get me to get in the car and drive around the country with Tom AND Paul. Wouldn't THAT be a riot!! Oh my goodness . I get a little "giddy" thinking about it. There's another "brother" out there who likes JK guitars too that I'm telling ya would be along as well...we'll let that brotha go un-named at the moment but he'd be there for sure.

I just gotta say that this guitar is looking really really sweet. The purity of the raw woods speaks to me...AND look at those bevels!! WOW. That will be like cuddling up with a warm blanket. And yes Paul, I am envious, salivating, etc etc. Well, you get the idea! Not to mention that it came to my realization that in all of the building I have done with John, and all of the promoting I have done to try to get people to pay attention to this GREAT builder, right now I don't have a single JK guitar . My momentary troubles have extracted almost all of the really good stuff to new homes. Seasons come and seasons go...let's just say I'm ready for a new season...and I'm not talking about the weather lol.

But, this one is looking fantastic. I can't wait to see the shiny gloss on this. What's more, PAUL...I fully expect you to have one of your buddies record one of your sessions honkin' that harmonica, beatin' that drum, singin' at the top of your lungs, and playing' that darned guitar...I WANT a copy...and I ain't kiddin!!!!! Please..???

GREAT work John. I SO respect you and your work. I don't say it often enough, but I truly think you're one of the best.

Mike, thank you so much for that great testimonial. Check's in the mail brother.. Seriously, I appreciate all the kind remarks that you guys put up on the AGF. Its a very supportive community.
Mike, your project is underway. We need to remedy that deficit in your stable. Sides are mostly bent and blocks are getting laminated so they will be purity.

So, since I see there is some interest in shop pictures I thought I would include a couple of shots of my new addition, at least from the inside. I have been working In the cave of my basement heretofore and wanted someplace with light and a view so this addition gives me that. All the power tools are in another room and the old assembly section now houses a lot of flat surfaces where things that are glued up go to cure. You never have enough flat surfaces.

It snowed again last night. That part of life in the mountains is getting old by the time March comes around

I do have lights in this shop. I thought it looked more dramatic without the lights, plus you cant see the sawdust and debris as well.

Love that shop John! I'm hopefully going to come see it in the spring...after tax time. In my business, this time of year is really busy despite the fact I don't do taxes, just about everything we do involves taxation at some level. I've already talked with a certain friend of yours and mine about joining me for the trip. I hope to be able to hang with you for at least a day and talk "the talk" a bit

Smile New shop!

Wow, the new shop looks awesome. I do hope you have double pane windows, or it will be pretty chilly right now.

Mike, you deserve the guitar of your dreams after all this juggling and financial struggle. Hope it comes to fruition soon...

John, you may have to build a guest room if this keeps up! Haha

Once the masses hear about your awesome homebrew they willl be beating a path down your new driveway...

Do we get to see the pretty silver dots?

Thanks John!

Cheers

Paul

Thanks guys. Yes Paul, double pane all around. Lots of insulation.

You guys are always welcome. I've got a spare bedroom or two with bunk beds. You all can fight over who gets the top bunk.

Brother! The new shop addition looks fantastic! Well done you.
Can't wait for our next visit. But we'll wait for the snow to quit.

The snow is gone bro. Come on down. Let me tempt you with a trip to Cormark and scrounges. (Lots of Spanish cedar)

Its a small addition to the shop but it IS a nicer environment.
