My concept...
My idea is to make an oversized Dread feel like a Grand Concert/000.
This should do it! And it should be LOUD and FAT! Woohoo... And John, nice pic of the flamed strut!!!! Cheers Paul

Rosewood burl purfling
The teflon strip comes out and pieces of rosewood burl go in. Nearly ready for the finisher. Gotta flatten that arm bevel out some more and do the dings and fit the neck and off it goes.

That is looking really nice John. That mahogany really has a sheen to it that I don't see that often with mahogany....really pretty stuff and the rosewood purfling looks great.

Do we get to see the neck?
Come on, John I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see the neck!
Looks GREAT to me! And I guess my vote counts extra! Haha Tom Bsox, I agree. Very pretty Mahogany and I think the burly top purfling really sets the gold and tan colors off! Cheers Play on AGF Paul

Thanks Tom.
You know that sheen is probably from a little naphtha Paul your vote is numero uno. Neck is on the way just as soon as I c,an figure out how to make one. Or should I document the struggle I appreciate the comments Ryan.

Why not document?
Oh, just the body is off to the finisher! He sure does nice work. I can see why you use him!
Do we want to tell the gang here about our slim and slightly asymmetrical neck with your awesome feel in between a C and a V? Oops, I just did... The neck John made for me on #128 is absolutely the most comfortable neck I have ever played! I asked for a VERY slim and slightly asymmetrical carve to help out my small and beat up old left mitt. I have measured with a cloth tape measure, and the circumference at the first fret is only 4 7/16". My two slim carve RTs and the new Andy Powers neck on my Custom Taylor, and the Neck on my Martin Custom Shop axe all measure just about 4.5". Even tho the carves are different, the circumference is almost the same! So 128 is a 16th inch less. Evidently I can feel a MM no problem. A bit less meat on the lower shoulder, and very little taper, as well. I know a lot of folks like a bigger neck, but this works great for me. And no worries about less mass in the neck due to John's BOSS Carbon Fiber and laminations. Very rigid neck for more vibes to the top! Also, John came up with very visible side FB markers that go thru to the TOP Of the FB binding to avoid confusion when I lay it down for lap slide! I am confused enough as it is... haha. Plus nice slot diamonds at frets 3,5,7(x2), 9, 12(x2), 15, 17, & 19. These really help a LOT in the heat of battle when playing lap slide, which I will sometimes do on this when only taking one axe to gigs. Some of my gigs have nowhere to put a second guitar, and some I am going room to room for shut ins. Now I have spilled the beans! Haha Cheers Paul

Neck glueup
The main part of the neck is Spanish cedar. Here it is all glued up and squared up. The outside edges are square to the fingerboard plane and the those edges are planed flat, which is important for what comes next.
The neck is split on a bandsaw. The inside edges are rough with sawmarks but that's ok since its the outside edges that will be glued together. Laying out the center lam. Its maple. Band sawing out the center laminate Two more lams of Santa Domingo mahog and two of maple veneer completes the neck layup. The actors in the center sectionn of the neck
