Cabarone beat me to "Illegal Smile". Always popular.

The grand finale of any late afternoon, or evening show I do, is always, "Goodnight Irene". I frequently get over 80% of the audience singing along with me, especially on the chorus!

I'm surprised at how many here don't want audience participation and prefer to play songs no body knows.
To me the whole point of playing for people and getting paid to entertain is audience interaction. Otherwise the bar owner may as well put on the radio. I can see in more intimate settings, singer songwriter nights and places where people are going to see new music that a quiet attentive audience is preferred....even expected. But your average pub, bar gig in my end of the world you won't get called back if you don't play at least some "standards"..... I always try to pick a bunch of forgotten hits...maybe rearrange something unexpected but still they will recognize it. At home on my own I listen to all kinds of music and play whatever I want, but at a gig I try to please. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
