SJ,
This is a commissioned build. But on a plus side, I have 2 sister sets to this osage, more desert ironwood, more walnut for necks.... well pretty much more of everything on this guitar..... let the temptation sink in a little further.

That's good to know - I'm sure I'm not the only one drooling over this beauty!

Steve
I made mine out of Osage Orange along with the neck w/no truss rod...

I was following along on your NB myrtlewood build, and now you've got me hooked on this one too! Beautiful work, Chris. I marvel at the vision you builders have and your ability to convert that into a tangible work of art. Again, the shape and look of the headstock blows me away, and I love the contrasts in the body. Don't even get me started on the fretboard...I just play 'em, but you folks are the real artists. Thanks for sharing the process.

Thanks for following both builds, Mark! I'm glad you're enjoying them.

The front headstock overlay is walnut burl and spalted oak. The back headstock overlay is book matched spalted oak.

Gorgeous guitar! How is the Osage Orange (Bodark) as far as joining? I have heard it tends to chip when its machined. I know it's pretty resin'y wood. Does it glue well?

I've had no issues working with it at all. It planes, glues, sands and bends just fine for me.

You might check with RC Tonewoods.

If you are wanting billets or multiple sets, I offer resaw service and/or can provide you with billets for your own uses.

A new finish means there are new things to learn. I had dialed in the speed of my buffer for my previous finish. Well, it just wasn't cutting it for poly. So after a quick pulley swap, things got shiny in a hurry (relatively speaking).

So I guess it's time to make this thing a guitar, right? So how about a desert ironwood bridge?
