Preparations by Howard Morgen
Probably a long shot, but if anyone has a copy of Howard Morgen's Preparations book they are willing to sell, I am looking for a copy.
Since the book is out of print and doesn't seem to be available anywhere, I am flexible regarding the price. |

Thanks for the recommendation, that looks very interesting.
I have his Concepts and Fingerstyle Favorites books and I really like his song arrangements. |

Preparations is a very basic book, that really is intended to prepare you for the Concepts book. It is very much like early classical guitar in its format and style, except that you are applying basic fingerstyle to folk tunes and that sort of thing.
The True Fire course would be something to study either during or after Concepts. Tony

Howard Morgen
I 2nd Tony's comments. I don't have Preparations but do have the other books including his True Fire lesson. That may be the best way to go. Howard Morgen had a gift for explaining music concepts in a way that made them seem simple to understand. A great teacher.

Thanks for the comments. I did read some posts on one of the jazz forums a while back indicating that Preparations is pretty basic, so I am not really looking to use it myself at this point.
I guess I am just one of those obsessive compulsive people who does not like having an incomplete set of something. Not very practical, I know. I downloaded the TrueFire course that was recommended and it seems very good, although parts of it are a bit over my head. |
