Went to Costco to look at 4k sets. There was a 55" 4k sitting next to a 55" 1080p, showing what I must assume was HD programming. At 4 feet and beyond I saw not difference at all. I had to get to within 2 feet to start to see the slight gradations on edges on the 1080p where there was none on the 4k, but it was VERY subtle and I had to really look for it. Beyond 4 feet, no way to tell.
Given the paucity of 4k programming, I certainly would not currently invest in one. Will I own one, surely someday when the programming catches up to it or if I buy a 100" set, which is not likely as the wife would vehemently object.
