looks great...
if its the shape of the GS Mini..do ensure that there are tone bars below the X Brace for stability ..as the Taylor GS Mini's in Singapore...most of them are facing problems of swelling at the bridge area as there is no tone bars below the X Brace With the swelling..the bridges of the GS Mini starts to lift and tear off at the sharp corners..f this could be also due to the high humidity in our country. that's just a thought... cheers Jarvis |

You know what, the timing couldn't have been this perfect.
I have been looking at parlour size guitar with shorter scale recently. Keep us updated with the progress..... I am interested in a future build if you decide to offer it....

I'm looking forward to seeing how this lil' gem turns out ... I've been wondering when a luthier was going to do their take on Bob Taylors GS Mini design..
Premium tone wood, with luthier voicing to the box should yeild a fun lil' guitar... It just might capture the hearts of many of us AGF'rs..... Last edited by Rollie; 08-21-2011 at 11:18 AM. |

We hope to make a little more progress on this today. One weeknight and a few hours on one weekend day means it will probably take a while - but we're excited to keep this one moving forward.
I will post more photos as we move further in the build

Can you share how you came to that conclusion? I've always had the experience that shorter=stiffer, all else being equal. If what you're saying is true, an 18' jumbo would be stiffer still. I'm sure we would both agree that's not true. Jim McCarthy |

Paul, I'm also interested in how the voice of that small scale turns out.
A couple years ago we built a 22 5/8" scale 12 string, but it was for F# tuning. We took a 25.4" scale and whacked off the first two frets. Changed everything, but it worked magically. Do you plan on keeping this small guitar in standard tuning? Steve |

Nothing much to report from yesterday's work as it was a bit abbreviated.
We did get in the backing support (black fibre) for the sound port and the back braces were shaped. They will be adjusted and cleaned up a bit more right before we put the back on the rims. Maybe we'll have some photos later in the week - time to do the day job for a while!

Nice, I like small body guitars like this.
12fret I assume (with the short scale and all...)

Crack stops are in (ebony strips), sound port backing is in (black fibre).
The back was put on last night - and we trimmed off the excess this morning. Here are some photos we snapped. We just love those clamps!!!
