Default 12th fret and side stickers

My Cordoba C5 has no side fret markers nor does it have fretboard markers. My Cordoba Fusion 12 has side fret markers, but they are very small and not easy to see. I bought some transfer stickers on Amazon.I basically only need the side markers for the 5th, 7th and 9th fret. I put large side fret markers on the C5 to see how they work as compared to smaller ones (but larger than the original) that I put on the Fusion. I put a decorative decal on the fretboard on both of them at the 12th fret just for the heck of it. Left to right is the C5 side and front view and then the Fusion, side and front view.

I like the smaller side fret markers better as far as looks go, but I'll play them tomorrow and see how they work out. They are removable so if I don't feel I need the large dots I'll replace them with the smaller ones.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on your C5. I've been looking at them and was considering getting one of the spruce top models. The lack of side markers seems odd for a "student" model guitar. Seems like it would only make it harder to learn on.

Yeah, definitely go with the smaller ones, like on your Fusion.
I like side dots too. I put some on mine. Strings by Mail has some good ones for a classical guitar, and the right size: Rosette Ivory Fret Dots
I wonder why your Fusion has them and not your C5. Is it a crossover style?

I think the C5 is fine for what I do.

Yes, the Fusion is a crossover.

Which is? Dabble in classical pieces? Perform? Play at home for enjoyment?

Dabble in classical and steel strings, play at home for my own enjoyment and spend money on guitars.

Not always in that order

The recording in my signature, Allegretto Op 59, was done with the C5.

My C5 has side markers at 5, 7, and 9. Curious.

Maybe mine did? Now I don't remember. If mine had them they were useless to my old eyes.

My Jellinghaus had those side fretboard stickers!! They just fell off after having the guitar for over half a year, leaving just the 5th and 7th fret markers for real....I didn't even notice they were stickers!! I really like having a 9th fret marker too, but I'm going to get a real one put in to match the 5th/7th....

No fret markers are really needed.

If anything a small marker on 7...it's all you need.

Until your eyesight is age affected and less sensitive to ambient light, less able to distinguish between similar colors and either need a spotlight or larger fret markers.

I suspect many professionals have markers but rarely rely on them.

I have tiny .010 brass dots on 7, 12, and 17. I have a raised fretboard, the upper bout is curved down, the fretboard isn't actually raised but a dot can be helpful on 12 because of parallax.

My dots are essentially invisible unless I make an effort to look for them...which I never do, and I'm just a hack who's going to be seventy three

You can always to what Sharon Isbn and I do: use a spot of whiteout/liquid paper. Easy to remove if you want to. If it's good enough for Sharon, it's good enough for me. She even keeps a bottle of it in her guitar cases, according to an article I read a while back.
