Hi everybody, just arrived !
Hi guys. My name is Delaorden, this is my first post. I like this place.
Well, I got two cheap acoustic guitars. One is from China and is branded "Lauren"...well is not too bad anyway but recently I bought a very unexpensive but NOT "cheap" acoustic guitar under US$100.00 ----> Epiphone DR100. Very nice, fun to play, beautiful and sound nicely. It has a nice action. Very smooth. Unfortunately I changed the strings and I did not like how it sounded. I bought a very thin strings, .009 to .045 ... Imediately I decided to change it again and bought a Ernie's Ball set .012 ...well it's much better but still not as good as the original strings !!! I'll stick with these strings for a while and then I'll try some new set, maybe .010 D'adario or something else. Accept tips OK, that's it. Salut to everyone ! |

Hi Delaorden9,
Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your new Epiphone guitar! I'm glad to hear that once you got the right strings on it that it sounded better. Good luck in your efforts to learn about the guitar! - Glenn |

Welcome aboard!
I am sure you will get plenty of suggestions around here. Give GHS Infinity bronze a try. I have also been enjoying my first set of LaBella strings, you might give them a go as we'll as Dr Sunbeams. |

Welcome to the forums!
I would suggest trying out a set of D'Addario 80/20 Lights. I think you jumped up to medium gauge strings which will make it a bit harder to play. I like the sound of Lights best myself, and I think the Epiphone came from the factory with some brand of light strings on it. The D'Addario strings are only about $6-$10 around here in the store, cheaper online if you order from some place like stringsbymail or juststrings. Check it out, experiment with strings, they're a cheap way to change the tone of your guitar.

Welcome! Maybe a set of D'Addario EJ16's would do the trick? They are .12's so maybe a little heavier that you wanted?

Welcome aboard, friend. Keep those .12s on for awhile. When you do switch, I wouldn't go lighter than .11 (you'll find that on some sets of lights). You were right about the .09s--much too light.
You can't go wrong with D'Addario. You'll find that we each have different favourite strings. You'll find what's right for you.
