Default Where to buy a Composite Acoustics Cargo

I'm looking to buy a Composite Acoustics Cargo guitar. To save a few $'s, I will ship it to where my folks are staying in Florida. They can bring it back into Canada as part of their yearly goods declaration.

A few questions I need help with please: Which are the trust worthy stores to deal with? What's the best Cargo model in your opinion? I'm looking for affordability before bling. This guitar will go camping, up to the cottage etc. Probabaly don't need electronics.

Some owners are complaining about high action... how do I avoid this?

Has CA made any improvements to the Cargo since it's initial release? I see some of the 2008 models at clearout pricing. Do I go with a 2009 or 2010 model? Any carbon travel guitars planned for Rainsong?

Thanks!

I'd give Danny at Acoustic Pro Musician a call.....he'd be able to answer all of your questions and I'm pretty sure you'll find him one of the nicest guys out there.
He probably has more in stock than he's showing...

There are two here at Dream Guitars, one with, and one without electronics.

I got mine from MacNichol... Mike is a great guy to deal with and he also runs carbonguitars.com forum. The RAW will be cheaper and have a slightly more open, bright sound. RT or Gloss will sound a bit warmer.

MacNichol is great. Mike has done a lot of work promoting the gits, including youtube vids and a forum dedicated to carbon fiber guitars. He has a generous return policy. And he's very responsive.

My classical guitar and my two good steel string guitars were all bought at The Podium in Minneapolis. You couldn't ask for a better bunch of people to deal with. I've never visited another guitar shop that I'd rather shop at. Since discovering this store, I don't really shop for guitars anywhere else.

I bought my guitars all in person, but they do ship guitars routinely. They sell lots of guitars that way. And they have a decent return policy.

And they sell Composite Acoustics guitars: http://www.thepodium.com/m-389-ca-guitars.aspx

You can't go wrong with either MacNichol's or the Podium. They're both very good and treat their customers well.

Folks are saying nice things about the RAW models (I have a OX RAW) and they are less $$$.

Good luck.

Mike at MacNichols is awesome to work with and I highly recommend him to anyone. For a Cargo I may would talk to Podium and have Marty set it up. They say he is the MASTER of setting up a CA Cargo.

I got the Cargo Parlor in charcoal, no electronics. It is for my young son and I wanted something small enough and relatively indestructible.
First impressions is that the sound is passable but the carbon fiber saddle will have to go before long.

MacNichol Guitars & Mandolins in Salt Lake City, Utah. Great customer service and you can call and talk to them about your potential purchase.

I'd buy a Cargo RAW. The RAW finish is classy-looking and is the cheapest-priced finish for a Cargo. The RT finish is costlier and you'll get scratchy sounds if you lightly brush your fingertips across the top while playing. The Gloss finish is costlier too. get The RAW save some money and probably get the best tone too!
