I’ve been playing for 58 years and have owned as few as one and as many as 9. I currently own 5 and could easily narrow that to 3. My current collection includes:
- 2001 Wingert 00 cedar/EIR that I purchased used in 2003
- 2004 Wingert E German spruce/cocobolo that I custom ordered in 2003
- 2014 Alvarez all-mahogany parlor
- 2013 Kramer Prairie Grass Adi/Bois de Rose that I bought in 2018
- 2019 Kramer Prairie Grass German spruce/mahogany that I custom ordered in early 2018

Many of my guitars in my early years were sold or traded to help upgrade to the next one. It wasn’t until I got into my fifties that I had some discretionary income to allow for me to own multiple guitars.
Best,
Jayne

I have three: Martin HD28LSV-Ad, Burkett JB45-Douglas Fir, Martin D18GE-Ad. The LSV may be put up for trade or sale soon. I am thinking I want a 12 fret dreadnaught or F5 mandolin.

I used to buy/sell/trade guitars, amps and drums when I played in rock cover bands. 100+ passed through my hands over half a century, and I had probably 16-18 electric planks on hand at one point.

Today that's down to 4 acoustics with pickups that I play at open mics in an acoustic duo (note the username).

In a room downstairs I still keep a custom Strat that I built, a tube amp and a bass, which all come out maybe once a year.

Four acoustics, each with a unique purpose (or so I tell myself to justify keeping them all). One electric which I rarely play, but which is so beautiful and special that I will never let it go. Could I live with just one? I could, but life would be a little more boring. Listed in my signature.

I’ve been playing 25 years and I’ve gathered
3 basses (2 I would never want to part with, 1 I probably wouldn’t)
2 electric guitars (1 has sentimental value, the other I’d get rid of if it was worth enough to both)
1 acoustic guitar (can’t ever imagine getting rid of it)

My husband has
4 electric
1 acoustic

We need a bigger house.

I have 5.

- 3 McNally - adi/hog dread, walnut/cedar OM, EIR/Spruce IM 12 string.

- 1 000-28 reimagined.

- 1 Lowden S32J (nylon).

I'd like to go down to 3 or 4. Realistically I will always want a Dread, an OM, a 12er and a nylon strung guitar.

5 Acoustics, and 1 Uke. Truly more than I need, but I am grateful to have the ones that I do.

Three acoustic and three electric. Basses, mandolins, lap steels, ukes and banjos are not guitars.

Good to know. That’ll save me some time counting.
