Default Small amps for acoustic Guitar

At CAAS last week Rick Allred played through a small Yamaha Powered Speaker. I may have been a Stagepass 300, not real sure.

He had an effect unit in front of it and it sounded great with his Nylon string guitar.

It was about 20 inches tall and 10-12 inches wide as best I can remember.

UPDATE Rick responded to my post on another site with this response.

Hi Pete,The speaker I was using was a Yamaha MSR 100.Thanks, Rick (www.rickallred.com)

Great sound with a small easy to transport package.

I saw another guy a couple years ago that used a small keyboard amp that was small enough to fit under the chair he was setting on.

It also sounded very good with his steel string acoustic.

Maybe we don't always need those big acoustic amps for small rooms.

Hi Pvee...
You are singing to the choir on that one.

Many of us in the groups use AER or Ultrasound amps which are small in size and light weight, and sound fabulous. Do you have an acoustic amp?

Absolutely.

I used to tote around two SWR California Blondes, then I was lugging two JBL EON15’s.... all the while I was cynical about all the little amps coming out. Not anymore. I’ve been using two, though lately just one, AER Compact 60 for everything. When you get that guy up on a stand it really holds it’s on, and sounds more like an acoustic guitar to boot.

Go with LJ an this one. Ultrasound is a fantastic amp. I have an AG50DS2 and A DI Plus. Both are fabulous and very reasonably priced.

Just throwing in my endorsement for the UltraSound Products. I also have the AG-DS2 and the DI+. I play a Martin D-28 with a fishman pickup and love the results thru the amp or thru the di into the pa.

Default Marshall?

What about the Marshall AS50R? Anyone have experience using an acoustic guitar with them?

Default Ultrasound

I have a review on their website . . . but they have YET to fly me to their factory and give me a tour, put me in a limo .. . . *LOL*

Seriously I just wrote them a letter and they were really cool and posted it.
