Default Gig Bag for the Rainsong Shorty

One of the forum members on MacNichols recently purchased the Reunion Blues Classical guitar gig bag, and reports that the Shorty fits well, and that this bag is very sturdy and travel worthy. A bit pricey, but well made.

I just purchased a TKL 5400HD classical gigbag for my shorty and for local show transport it is one of the nicest bag for the money.

I would love to see what the guitar look like in the case Lisa.

Back in November of 2011 I suggested the Gator Deluxe Classical bag shown below to Ashvin, which is the same case that comes with the Blackbird Lucky 13's. This case is a bit snug but it keeps the overall size as small as possible. The picture below shows the Gator case with a Shorty in it next to a GS Mini case. This case is no longer listed on the Gator site so I'm not sure it's still available however.

Ted, thanks for the pictures. For me a gig bag has to be airline worthy. The Shorty is not a travel guitar, and correct me if I am wrong, but even in a gig bag I do no think it would fit in the overhead compartment.

most airplanes other than the small puddle jumpers can hold even a dreadnought size case in the overhead bin. Getting it there is a different issue although I have not been denied any time that I have flown with a guitar on those larger planes. Still, I wouldn't trust any guitar in a gig bag just in case the airline required it to be gate checked or worse yet, checked at the ticket counter. And if there is a puddle jumper involved in your flight plans, you can count on at least a gate check.

I just returned from Boston and gate checked my Shorty both ways. No issues at all, and I have gate checked my guitars many times.

Well we will see how this bag is....snared one off of Amazon for a pretty good price relative to what was out there.

Default My answer.

I bought a gig bag for my Shorty that is made by "Access". This is a great bag that was original equipment with the Cargo. It has firm foam sides, back and top. It was only $50. I had a Taylor bag but it was way too flimsy and provided only protection from dust.
I think the model # is AB1SA1. http://www.carryaccess.com/gallery2.htm

I also use an Access Stage 1 for my RainSong CO-DR1100N2. It is a GREAT overall bag. Elderly carries them and shipped mine in a full sized guitar box (the shipping was NOT FREE). Not letting the bag get crushed or folded in shipping is important for retaining its stiff walls. It seems identical in many small details, though maybe a bit thicker padding for the Dreadnought size, to my TKL labelled Cargo gig bag. I would not be surprised if they both came from the same factory or at least from the same designer's specifications. The Taylor hardbag is the next step up and it was $140 vs. $50. Jon

I watched the video on their website, and the bag looks incredibly well made. I love the video of them throwing the bag with a guitar in it off a roof top!

I own one of the RB Continental Bags for my bass, and it is built as tough as nails with a nice amount of storage. I suspect you will be very happy with it for your acoustic.

.

Great thoughts from all. I am still deciding on which GB to purchase.

Yet, I have another question... Are there any CF cases that will work with the shorty? Does anyone have ANY experience with CF cases?

.

Are RB Continentals as bulky and heavy as a wooden case? The specs on-line might be the shipping/carton weight/dimensions. Jon
