They are not as heavy as a hard case, but they are certainly a little more bulky than a standard gig bag. I believe there is some sort of skeletal structure beneath the padding that makes it extra tough. It's also much more versatile than a hard case, in that it has much more available storage.

My Shorty fits very nicely in a Taylor Big Baby gig bag. Its a nice bag. Good padding. I see some on eBay.

Just got the new Reunion Blues bag delivered to the office......very nice bag, defintely not a snug fit but with the case padding and Velcro neck hold should work out well. Will update as I get to use it.

David,

Does it look like this case would be airline travel worthy?

I too find that even the TKL case it comes with is not a snug fit, so much so that next time I travel, I am going to stuff some cotton shirts in there not to make it tight, but to create less jiggle.

As far as gig bags go it looks like a fairly solid option...as I use it this week for carrying around I will try to give a better assessment of its airline worthiness. ( Even if I am not on airline this week)
