Agreed. My yamaha FSX730SC has laminate b & s, but you wouldn’t know it, it is a tone monster! I love it.

If you're looking at an A3 make sure what year it was made or you could be buying the older version.
Have the authorities been alerted?

You're either the only one that noticed, or just nobody thought it was funny.

"Old school" meaning older version? That's a good price.

Unfortunately a lot of people don't realize there is a new version and are paying the full retail of $799. That's why I mentioned it so people would know to get a deal on an older one.

Speaking of deals. I got my brand new A3M, new version on a ebay auction for $510. Unfortunately it has the new crappie soft case. But I'm happy,,,,lol.

The neck on the fg180 50th is a lot closer to the regular fg though, thinner and not chunky like the ll even though they are both 1 3/4".

If you do decide to get an FG, look a the 830. As good as the FG800 is, the 830 is noticeably better IMO.

Nothing necessarily superior in an all solid wood guitar. My 1971 Fg-150 could nearly run circles around my all hog Martin.

I just got a Yamaha A5R from Zzounds (I love the Pay as you Play option!) and I must say that it's an amazing sounding instrument! I'm not sure about the a/3 series but if this guitar is any indication then you can't go wrong!

LOL...I think the word is torrified, not horrified (torture is horrific, is it not?). Depending on the maker, it's either a slow bake or a quick-fry. Anything to get out of a couple years of properly aging (and treating) a nice guitar...

I owned an LS-16 and an LL-16 for a while. The LL-16 is a dreadnought, the LS-16 is more an 000 size. The LL-16 I sold because it was too booming and loud for me. The LS-16 however, had a more contained sound. The LS-16 I thought was a remarkable guitar. It outshined most of collection.

I have never seen an all solid Yamaha. I know that they exist, but never have been in a store that had one. What stores carry them in stock?

Depends on where you live. In Canada, Long and McQuade and Tom Lee Music carry select models. The North American market is saturated with competitors - Yamaha is priced extremely competitively so their share of the market is probably strongest in the rest of the world far away from Martin and Gibson country.
