Know what kinda bummed me out? The almost total dismissal of alternative Tonewoods at the end of the article, mentioning 4 piece backs or composites rather than some of the very viable alternative woods out there.

The thread on Indian Rosewood availability serves as a nice companion to this one (esp. Alan Carruth's comments).

I like what Larrivee, Taylor and to an extent Gibson are doing to try to open the door for alternative woods.

I like how Adam mentioned CF in the article. It wasn't much but it is better than nothing. The mention of Blackbird's R&D with ekoa is also encouraging too.

Good article...I'm reading this on my phone, but did they use the J-45 as an example of Rosewood B/S?? I realize that's available, as well as other tonewood combos, but hardly what the J-45 is known for

Nope, you are correct! They list Taylor 416-R; Gibson J-45; and Martin D-16RGT as examples of Rosewood b/s!!?? No D-28 or HD-28? To compound the confusion, they use the Martin 000-15M; and the Guild M-20 (all mahogany guitars) as examples for mahogany b/s even though the descriptions seem to assume a spruce soundboard (since they talked about hardwood soundboards earlier in the article). Still, I think the article is generally good and informative.
