Default Have You Ever Seen A Gibson Mandolin Like This?

Its referred to as the "L'il Pup" and was made in 1929. It has what appears to be a prototype of the A5 Florentine body and a flowerpot inlaid F style headstock.

The unusual features are the two additional small soundholes and the unique fingerboard inlay. More rare than Loar signed F5's, it may be the only one built.

"A5" and "Florentine" don't mix. The F style (with a scroll) is Florentine. That's a two-pointer. Gibson was certainly making A and F style mandos well before 1929. The extra f-holes are interesting.

Tell Gibson. That's what they called the 2 point A body with the F headstock.

A 2009 discussion of these (this?) from a mando site:

PS - is it just the photo here, or does it look like the regular f-holes were cut using a template and the two upper ones were just kind of carved out freehand?
