Default New Goodsell Amp Build

I've gone back to smaller amps so I traded in my big 35w Goodsell Model 1958 and am anticipating Richard's new concept based on a princeton platform. It'll be a 17-19 watt single end amp w/ one 6550 power tube (or a KT66) w/ a 0B3 gas voltage regulator (w/ purple glow) and SS rectifier to get all the power available.

So I stopped down to Richard's shop Saturday to assemble the cabinet and save Richard a half an hour on the build. The amp is on the right w/ Richard. I'm darn excited.

looks great. princeton builds are probably the hottest item going now. if you are building the cab, you could have built the amp too.

play music!

Won't be much "Princeton" but for the cabinet and chassis, it'll be a single ended Class A, w/ one power tube where the classic Princeton is 2x6V6s in a push pull configuration.

Yeah, the 2x8s will be an interesting set up. The WGS G8C get the top reviews for 8 inch speakers. My other combo amps have 12" spkrs and different power tubes, EL84s and 6V6s so this build should be something completely different.

Congrats on the new amp. Goodsell has a great reputation.

Agreed. I would normally go for a 10" or 12", but if I were going two 8" speakers I would probably pair one G8C with a different 8", perhaps a Weber Sig Series.

Richard's a friend, great guy, very gifted. He dreams in amp schematics. I don't think the chassis has hit the bench yet, I'm trying not to check in.

the 2x8 is a leap o' faith for me, the attraction is you can fit two 8" in a 5F2 cabinet so why not? I'm thinking of running it w/ my Goodsell Super 17 (w/ 12" ceramic) on stage and see if it's fun enough to carry two amps.

I figured I'd pick up a Weber alnico at some point, you'd think the ceramic/alnico mix would sound great. Thanks for the suggestion!
