Yeah. I go from playing remote venues (ski resorts) to urban venues in Salt Lake, so I'm gonna need something. I'm just glad I dialed it in before we played!

Behringer XR12 Air Digital Mixer Tips and Tricks
Check that your router also uses 5ghz frequencies, xr18 only uses 2.4ghz.
One thing behringer recommends is to use a wifi scanner app to spot the less crowded channels. Then if you use android, they say that you can disable your tablet wifi scanning and set the channel you want...

Thanks! I think I have a 5g router. I was hoping just to stick an old airport express in the rack, but I think it's 2.4g Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Back to the original posters plan of sharing info on the xr mixers.
I had planned on trying to replicate the settings on the TC Electronic gear but after spending some time setting up the acoustic guitar and vocal channels I don't feel the need. I used the presets on the eq, gating & compression for vocal or acoustic guitar and adjusted to taste. The preamps are very quiet and sound very warm if I dare use descriptive adjectives lol! For effects I found a thread on another forum for a setting on the plate reverb and used that on the vocals. I also added a bit of the stereo pitch shifter as a short delay(100ms) slightly detuned to thicken up a bit. I used chamber reverb on the instruments and that's it. Thanks Johnny! That's helpful. Can you provide a link on the reverb?

OK. So the router thing worked flawlessly (once I remembered to plug it in!).
One quick question: We run our IEMs off two of the AUX sends. I have reverb in the first effects slot working fine on the mains. Is there a way to get a little reverb into the IEMs? I ask this while I'm waiting for Behringer to approve my registration on the forum. Edit: turns out it's as simple as selecting the fx return fader and then have it return to the AUX buses. I'm going to set up my bands new XR18 tonight. I spent some time with it today setting it up and I'm impressed. I can dial in a sound that's way better and more versatile than using a typical live mixer. Consider me a fan

Found the perfect little router for the mixer. It will actually connect to a hotspot (I use my phone) for Internet, and transmit its own wireless network and has two wired ports on the back, one I use straight to the mixer.
Best of all, it's very small. http://amzn.to/2pXKc2V

Neat! I wound up 3M velcro-ing an old D-link I had to the back of the unit (it's in a rack). Now I need to find someone with a drill press so I can cut a hole in the rack ears so I can pass power and ethernet through more easily....

Sorry if this has been mentioned but if you use a lyric app like Onsong and use snapshots it's simple to put the program change (snapshot #) into Onsong. MIDI: 0.0:0@0=snapshot 1 MIDI: 0.0:1@0= snapshot 2 etc. Just paste those into the heading of a song and when you call up song the xair will change to the appropriate snapshot, of course you have to have your tablet hooked up to midi.
I'd also recommend the App "Mixing Station Air Pro" It's by the developer of the original xair app and has more features that the original Xair app. It's android only |

Having used this mixer for the past few months I can't say enough how versatile it is.
The size of a toaster and the power of a pro board. I run this into a Bose L1C and depending on the venue my guitar can have too much low end and even the "low cut" on the channel eq didn't seem to be enough. So I loaded the TEQ graphic into one of the FX slots and it shows what frequency is overpowering and simply pull it out. Also great for fine tuning, getting rid of the quack etc. |
