Electric Fingerstyle Guitar
Reposted from "Record" section. This is my first attempt at recording a solo electric finger style composition. It is my rendition of my daughter's school alma mater, to be part of a video that will be shown during the graduation ceremony in June. I used an Empress compressor pedal, as well as Strymon Ola chorus and Strymon Big Sky reverb pedals. It is effects-heavy, but I really enjoyed making this recording. Comments are welcomed, constructive or otherwise. Thanks...

Hi Mike,
I thought your piece sounded really good! And I loved the combination of the effects. I mean, if you can't use these effects on an electric guitar, where can you use them??!! Very nice! Thanks for sharing this! - Glenn

Very cool, indeed!
Something completely different than my way of playing, haha.

That was good! I thought the chorus effect was a bit overwhelming, though.
The tune sounded sort of familiar, but not quite. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_DY5kUf-IE

Thanks to all for listening and for the comments. Wow, perttime, that song sounded very close to the Palmer alma mater melody! I knew the woman that wrote the alma mater many decades ago. Perhaps she had heard the song you shared way back then and was influenced.

Also, Wikipedia says that "In the spring of 1963, the Rice University student body voted to establish a school song (Rice is Our Home), using the music from the Finlandia Hymn." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finlandia
