Hey Didimauw - do you enjoy it? I've never played one and I've thought about getting one simply because it's price is about $50 or so, depending upon the model. However, I believe, generally, that you get what you pay for.

hey dru, yes i do enjoy it. mainley because i played violin since 4th grade till senior year, and got into guitar half way thru that. so its like a combination of both lol. but the rogue is not bad at all. i took the pickguard off, and had to file some of where the fingerboard was glued onto the neck ( rough parts) but its still fun to play.

I've used one quite a few times. Its crazy that an instrument like that can be had so cheaply. Its definitely not a great instrument with an inspiring sound, but it is a very very functional instrument for about the price of a pair of decent cables.

Cool

An only OK beginner's mandolin, but it does have a good neck w/ excellent intonation...but w/ a P90 pickup installed, mine became a surprisingly good electric mandolin...

A friend of mine, who owns a '59 Gibson EM150 electric mandolin (similar to bottom pic), liked mine so much that he had me build him one, and now he leaves his Gibson at home when he plays bar gigs.

Terry - that's a great pic. Is that a pickup that just screws into the top or is the wood actually removed? Did you do it yourself?

Yes, I did the work myself, and, yes, had to cut away some of the top to fit it in...also, I used a piece of 10mm craft foam to (A) get the p/u heigth just right and (B) to mute the top a bit, so I can crank it up to bar gig volume levels.

Tonewise, it's still about the same, but it did lose some unplugged volume.

Pretty pleased with it...about $100 invested, counting mando, p/u, knobs, foam and pots.
