Default Wanted: Bright strings for SCGC....and the winner is

I have used a variety of strings over the years but now am after some bright sounding strings. I want to have that crisp clear tone that comes from a bright set of strings eq'd with emphasis on the highs. Ideas?? What works for you if you use bright sounding strings. I play lights.

I too was on your same quest...
I ended up finding that tone with earnie ball cobalt strings. Electric guitar strings in acoustic guitar gauges. I also play with a soundhole p/u but the (unplugged) acoustic tone was wonderful. I lean towards thicker gauges, but even then, the highs are wonderfully crisp

The Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze set may be your answer. They're pretty zingy for the first week or so of playing before they mellow out.

I always use Elixir 80/20 12's on my SCGC OO. Brightest I've found which I need because I play fingerstyle with no nails. So bright is key. If there are other suggestions out there for strings that are as bright or brighter (and as comfortable to play and long lasting!) I want to know!!

Good suggestions and worth a try. Any more ideas on very good bright but also balanced strings for my SCGC OM with Western Red Cedar face and EIR back and sides?

+1 on the Ernie Ball aluminum bronze strings. A big bonus with them is that they last like coated strings, stay in tune better than coated strings, and are priced like uncoated strings.

80-20 Phosphor Bronze strings of any make are crisp and bright, but they mellow out relatively quickly in my experience, usually in a couple weeks of frequent playing. A lot of folks don't like them but a lot do. I like the Martin SP's a lot because they have some kind of treatment on the steels that lasts and they sound brighter to me.
Doyle Dykes GHS Signature Bronze retain their brightness pretty well.
Elixir Nanos are very bright for a coated string and they retain the brightness, but they cost you.
Who knows?

Just went to my local guitar depot and came back with three new sets of strings. I am going to put them on today and compare. These are all going on my new SGCG OM. I am looking for a brighter tone than the SCGC strings which went on yesterday could produce. The three sets are
1. Zebra made by DR 10-48
2. Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze 11-52
3. GHS White Bronze 12-50

We will see.

I ended up settling on the Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze 11-52. They are actually not the brightest of the bunch. That goes to the GHS White Bronze but they are lacking any warmth at all and sounding very metallic in tone. But the search goes on. All three of the bunch out performed the SCGC strings in terms of clarity and brilliance. The test was done with eq settings the same and going straight into a Shertler Unico and no change in any settings there either. Thanks for the good info here.
