Silly question but why isn't the public allowed to go?

Because manufacturers and their dealers are trying to do business, and NAMM places a higher value on that than on allowing the public to descend on the place and be disruptive.

Personally, I don't see a need, or a compelling reason, for a public day.

they did once and they were swamped! the place is already crazy with just the NAMM members and their "invited" guests. they would have to have another day just for the public. remember this is for the NAMM members to view the new product and make deals/arrangements to purchase said product for the coming year.

play music!

$10 a head won't cover the increased costs of moving the show to another venue, and a larger one, at that. If NAMM was going to open it up to the public, it should cost at least as much as an adult ticket to Disneyland.

Regardless, it's likely that NAMM has a contract with the convention center and, as such, can't just pick up and move.

You're right, though. We are the end users. That's why manufacturers have dealers, so we can visit the dealers and see the products we want to buy. If your favorite store doesn't stock something, it's easy enough to find one who does. Every manufacturer probably has a page on their website where they list their dealers.

NAMM is a "trade show", and it really needs to stay that way.

Hi Marty:

The public is permitted to attend during the summer NAMM show in Nashville for one day only, on July 13.

Oh and another thing. NAMM is crowded enough already with their current admittance policy. Allowing the public in would be impossible to control the crowds. It is the largest show in terms of attendance at the Anaheim Convention center (about 80,000 visitors). Allowing the public in would probably double or triple the attendance, and there is no way to accommodate a crowd of that size. The aisles are almost impossible to maneuver, the lines for the rest rooms are long, parking is tough to get, and there are long lines at the food stands.

Would it be ok if I jump in this thread to ask if someone will go to the ToneRite booth to take a picture of One of the ToneRite crew with the McKnight Guitar they have on display? I would like to see the booth, of course, but our schedule didn't allow us to be there personally this year.

If I can get the picture my question will be if I have permission to use the picture(s).

Just askin'.

Great Photos!!! Keep 'em coming.

And if I could ask, could you try the PRS SE line and tell us what you think? How they sound and how you like them, how they compare? There doesn't seem to be too many places to check them out.

Thanx ERIK
