Yeah it’s an old wives tale. Fuel pumps are mostly cooled by the fuel flowing through them, so it being submerged matters very little. From what I’ve seen when fuel pumps fail is usually for no reason at all, or they get clogged by its own sock. At the inlet of the fuel pump there’s a mesh that we mechanics call sock. It’s designed to filter the fuel before it gets to the pump. From many fuel pumps I’ve changed they almost always have this in common. The sock pretty much disintegrates and the pump sucks the pieces and clogs it and fails.

Don’t hide your guitars or fuel pumps from your spouse. [emoji23]

My soon-to-be wife actually encourages me to buy guitars, and gets upset when I sell them. She gifted me this shirt for Christmas past. If you have to hide them, you're doing it wrong.

Nope, never, no way. If my "partner" was a girlfriend or significant other, then it would be none of their business. Period ! If the partner is your spouse, and you hide things from them, that indicates that you clearly know what you did was wrong. We have separate accounts, investments and no bills. I don't have to explain a single purchase, of any amount. That said, I still always share when I am bringing a new "lady" into the house and make sure I introduce her to her (this guitar).
