Interesting that the media has all but ignored the greatest woman skier in history, Lindsay Vonn.

We want to watch the Curling but the only hour we have is entirely covered with the Alpine Alpaca Dancing and sidebar coverage of the Olympic controversy that the Belgian athletes are finding that their broccoli isn't tender enough and despite all plans Olympic teams have fallen short in their condom supplies.

Really?

We could DVR the shows until the next day but by then you know the results.

Bob

Our family are winter Olympic fanatics.

This year's coverage is the worst ever. And not just from the time change - the Bejing summer games were easy to watch.

For Olympic events, I set the alarm and get up at 4AM to watch live Biathlon or something. But this time around, there is no broadcast when the event is live (and nothing else on) So I have no choice but to watch it recapped which I almost refuse to do.

The announcers this year are the worst ever :

"Oh my gosh Bob! Did you see that crash in turn one? I don't know how he will ever make up such a devastating loss of time. What a heartbreak and coming into turn two he has a commanding lead and is looking at the gold medal!"

"this couple came here to try and win the gold"

"this team wants to win this game"

Seriously, I could pull kids from our elementary school, fly them to the venue, hand them a mic and they would do no worse.

We don't get broadcast TV so haven't been watching but in general and historically compared to Europe Alpine Ski Racing in the US has always received rather marginal coverage

Has Mikaela Shiffrin been getting any coverage ? The youngest athlete in history male or female to win an Olympic Slalom Gold Medal is not fer nothin' either

Seriously, Sportspeak is possibly the most ignorant form of communication.

Sure, that takes away from the nailbiting edge-of-your-seat tension as the stone slooowwwwwlllllly makes its way down the ice, but it's worth watching even so for the sheer grace and beauty of the sport.

I am not convinced that sportspeak is any weirder than musicianspeak, but during last night's men's figure skating, one of the commentators said, he really used the ice. I tried unsuccessfully for a couple of minutes to think of a way an ice skater would not use the ice...

I thought so too, but they had a really nice docu-interview with her showing her and her grandfather. Then she came in fourth in the super-G.

It's always that or "He used his athleticism."

The fun part of this story is who DID win! Now that's an upset...

been watching (DVR with fast forward) the Olympics too!

Six women on snowboards all running from the same start down a hill of obstacles! What's that called? Missed the finals and so far missed the men.

Crazy!

I'll be watching it soon...I know it was somewhat un-Canadian not to watch it live but there ya go...life intrudes, etc. From the known end-point I'm expecting a pretty-matched match!

Currently watching the other US-Canada ice rivalry: Men's curling! Tied 2-up in the 8th end and it's another match between well-matched teams.
