Best (affordable) Reverb pedal?
Hey guys,
What do you use for a reverb pedal? Not sure exactly what I'm looking for, just want it to be natural and high quality sounding. Something great for clean tones and lead soloing. |

Much will depend on your definition of 'affordable'
I use a TC Hall of Fame, which does everything I need. Sounds great, easy to dial in. They're $150 new, and I found a couple of used ones on Reverb for $90.

This just came up, https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=497347, might be some good suggestions there. I'm real happy with my Strymon blueSky, which is more expensive than some but excellent beyond my expectations for a digital reverb.

I just went through this exercise so my info is current.
I had a hand-wired boutique reverb pedal. It sounded good but had only one tone and was a full-size. I wanted an affordable mini pedal that sounds good and has reverb options. I would never have considered a budget brand like Donner but I researched a lot and on Youtube the Donner Verb Square pedal sounded the best (of the budget brands). I got one just a couple days ago and so far I love it. Super cheap on Amazon, built well and sounds very good.

I own a Behringer Reverb Machine, TC Arena (older model similar to HOF), and a GFS Vintage Verb. Of those, my favorite is the TC. Tone Print downloads are cool, good sound, well made pedal. If you like ols school spring reverb, the GFS may be your pedal, I'm personally not a fan. I have a Donner coming my way. The Behringer model I have is ok, but doesn't always work. The plastic switches are cheap. I have a chorus pedal from Behringer that worked ok for a year or so, then gave out on me.
For under $100, try to find a used T.C. or the Donner may be ok...I'll know soon enough.

Many great options listed. Mooer makes a decent Verb pedal called the shimverb. I personally like EH Holy grail as well.
Or if you can swing it Earthquaker Devices “Dispatch Master” is a great delay/verb combo pedal. Used is the best way to go with any pedal imho. I have both the EQ Devices and the Holy Grail on my boards. Top notch and built well. GL!

I really liked the Digitech Digiverb, the only reason I sold it was it didn't have stereo input. But the verbs sounded great, and I believe they're pretty cheap.

Biyang Baby Boom is the best I've tried regardless of price.

Although you might be thinking you are only interested in reverb, give some thought to purchasing a Zoom G1on multi-effects pedal. All the standard multi-effects are included, but what you might appreciate in addition to the lovely reverbs would be a built-in 60 second looper, chorus and echo, the very convenient headphone output and a price that's lower than a lot of the "low priced" reverb pedals. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...RoCNvoQAvD_BwE I used to own a Digitech rp200 and had custom named patches so I could toggle between "LAP STL", "FIDDLE", "TELE", "GUITAR", and "MANDO" when I did multiple instruments in a band setting. I don't play live much any longer, but have thought about picking up a G1on just to play with the looper. It's a short loop time at 60 seconds, but would be fun to test the waters of doing the Ed Sheeran thing. |
