Default Baranik Meridian Fan Fret, Art Deco

Mike says I'm' up on deck, about a 15 month wait, which in the grand scheme of things isn't that bad! We're going with the figured cocobolo that you've seen on Cocobolo Kid's guitar, and a nice set of blue spruce for the top. Other specs which aren't quite finalized:

Art Deco Theme (which you've seen once before on a Baranik Parlor)
Fan Fret, 1 inch scale difference
Figured Cocobolo Back/Sides
Double side, Cedar inner side
Colorado Blue Spruce Top
Spalted Manchinga trim
Open Gear Alessi Tuners

Congrats on your build and choice of Luthiers! I met Mike last year at Woodstock and he is not only a phenomenal luthier but a great guy. Turns out Mike grew up originally in Jersey not far from where I live. I got a chance to play one of his OMs he brought for the show. It was Koa BS with an addy top and sounded incredible. I would have bought it if I wasn't tied up with a build at the time. Keep the pics coming!

Love that piece of Cocobolo. Very aesthetically pleasing. I've never played one of Mike's guitars but, from what I've heard, they are top notch.

Congratulations!

It looks amazing!!!

I don't think I've heard of blue spruce being used for tops. I have a couple in my back yard (beautiful trees). Is it comparable to Adirondack's tone?

Rixter, I used to live in Morristown, then LBI, so Mike and I commiserated as former Jersey-ites.

Dru, I asked the same question about blue spruce when I first joined this forum and saw Cocobolo Kid's Meridian. Read about the forum's responses on page 10 of this thread

Hi Matthew,

That's going to be a lovely guitar! Cocobolo is such strikingly beautiful wood and it sounds good, too.

Very nice!

Matthew,

Congratulations, this guitar is going to be beyond stellar. My Meridian (for me) represents - honestly - perfection. I really would not change a single thing about it, or wish for anything more from it.

Let me know if you want any input from me on those details like saddle width / perp fret etc. - just drop me a pm, I'm very happy to chat.

Cheers,
David

I'm sure I'll be picking your brain about your fan fret. Mike and I already referenced your guitar in our conversations so keep an eye out for PMs from me

Smile Baranik Meridian

Nice choice on the spalted machinga trim. That is gorgeous wood and will look great with the cocobolo.

I also went with the cedar as the inside wood for the double sides. It smells great when you open the case.

I'll definitely be following this build, especially since it's using the sister set of cocobolo from my Meridian.

Enjoy the fun custom build process! Mike does not disappoint.

Oh man...I'm going to love the pics of this build. Mike is top notch, and the build pics of this guitar are going to make me drool and regret selling my Retreux!

Great choices for your build. I can't wait to see this one come together. Mike builds some of the finest guitars out there. I've had a chance to play the Meridian and it is truly remarkable. Congrats on the build.

Really like how the back woods are not totally symmetrical--this is going to be one unique guitar. Congrats!
