As cool as the guitar is looking (and it's looking very cool!) your workspace and jigs look like they're set up for some serious precision!

Welcome Tony. I met you at your first Healdsburg and fell in love with your guitars.

Thank you for the compliments Fred!
Doing a bit of binding work... Cutting the radial purfling. Another tool inspired by Kevin Ryan... Good lighting a must! This is the back binding when it comes out of the bender. It fits beautifully and never forced into shape... Shop made scraper made with the back of a hack saw blade. I have used this tool for 15 years. It doesn't look like it is going to wear out anytime soon! A little stray purfling line. That's all for now... |

Now that the body is completed, I began making the neck. Although I didn't get a photo of it, I glue the neck blank up weeks ahead of time. This particular guitar will have a 24.9 scale and a compound radius of 12 to 20.
Cutting the radius.... Cutting the fret slots.... Cutting the taper.... Thanks for looking. |

Tony, my friend- it's looking awesome and coming along great! I love your design sense, and your typically impeccable craftsmanship. Applause for the rosette, and the way you are echoing the theme with your top purfling. Also, the glimpses of what the Braz Cherry will look like under finish. it really comes alive!
I would really enjoy spending a day with you in your shop. It looks like you have some really smart jigs there- which as you know is why lutherie is such an interesting type of fine woodworking- we get to invent all sorts of ways to do tricky procedures better, faster, and more consistently. Clearly you've put a great deal of thought into it, and you have quite an inventive mind. Do you plan on posting a sound clip when this baby is finished?

Tony, I like the shot through the port.
That looks better inside there than my old Fender does on the outside.
