Looks great Mark, can't wait to see it wet. Do you send it to Michigan for finish or someone else?

Thanks,

Tom
Glad to hear you are on the mend Tom!
This will be going to Michigan probably on Monday.
Then comes the wait.

Mark

Hey, Tom,
What a bummer to get hammered with the flu when you are 2500 miles from home! I hope you have some comfortable accommodations there in Texas. Also hope you are coming back from the brink, feeling a LOT better, and counting the days until you get this gorgeous Mark Hatcher creation in your hands. If I had something like that in my near future, wild horses couldn't keep me away! Be well, and all the best to you. -S.

Thanks Steve (s) and Mark,

Spent the day in bed today after working Thursday and Friday (not pretty, but when you work for yourself, what are you going to do?). I am feeling better, all I have on board today is ibuprofen and antibiotics, not all the other meds I had been taking and so far doing better. Hopefully by Monday, the guitar will be off to Michigan and me to work in a slightly better state!!!

Mark informed me today that the guitar has indeed gone off for finishing. While the wait will be hard, I am actually just fine with it, because I for one am super excited to see the Koa come alive with the finish...I know it will be well worth any wait involved. The last guitar I remember that Mark made from this set of koa, the sides looked like they had been poured from a can of golden wood grain and allowed to just ooze over the wood....

Good luck/wishes with the wait time. I recall this span of time when Tom Doerr sent mine off to the finisher......the same artist in Michigan, I believe, who Mark uses. It's tough!!! I think you may get one pic while it's there......kind of half way through that process. The good news..... the timing/schedule is pretty good and stays true to when its due back.

Always a tough time for me. It's like a network soap opera: "As the Finish Cures."

Keep reminding yourself "good things come to those who wait". Among them...world-class Koa!

Sorry to read about you being ill, glad you're on the mend.

Glad you're fine with the wait but, my gas is cooling. Is it back yet????

Unfortunately, no updates as of yet, I don't know how long the back up was at the finishers, but I would think pretty soon. Sometimes you get the midway pic to keep you going, but nothing yet....

Good things come to those who wait, Tom You told me this finish piece was the hardest part, and it was hard. But it helped to know you were waiting with me. So remember- we're waiting with you!

I was just wondering about this one--rounding the home stretch in the finishing booth! Won't be long now...

That was good timing. Looks really good to me. The neck really came alive and those sides, they are amazing....

As with all of Mark's builds, there are so many amazing and beautiful details to see. That neck is gorgeous!! It's going to look stellar all fully assembled!

So, so nice! I missed this detail, so let me ask what is the back strap veneer?
It's quite attractive.

Thanks Steve,

That is Thuya burl. I pick up a nice piece of it;

Tom saw it and asked if there wasn't a place for it on his guitar. I guess the answer is obvious It's a nice color and goes well with Mahogany or Koa. For the builder it smells great when it's being worked- fills the shop.
