For those disusing break angle, the bigger the angle, the better tone... and traditional tied does not create the steeper break angle that the ball ends, beads or 12/18-hole drilled bridges do. The tied strings looks pretty and is the traditional way to do it, just like wine corks, but there are better alternatives (screw tops).
A 12-hole or 18-hole drilled bridge will give you the steeper break angle and that is why a load of professional players have this done or have their guitars built with it. The ball-end and beads mimic this without having to modify your bridge.

Nylon Strings
I've been thinking about converting one (or maybe more) of my classical guitars to a 12-hole bridge. If there is anyone that has done that, any words of caution would be greatly appreciated.
FWIW, I buy wine by the box! Glen

Hey, a note to the OP...just drop me a PM with your address and I'll mail you a set of Ernie Ball "Ernesto Palla" strings, ball-end nylons that I don't need.
