Dear John,
I seriously advise that you get your life insurance paid up before he puts finish on that thing. It is going to be KILLER!

Thanks everyone
Most people want their guitar to smell like cedar or some other aromatic wood. I decided I wanted the all-American apple-pie smell for my guitar. To accomplish this, Mike lines the inside of the back with pie crust, and then fills the finished guitar with fresh, hot sliced apples, sugar and cinnamon. It's also great for long periods of uninterrupted playing. If I get hungry, I can just reach into the sound hole and pull out some apple pie.
Thanks for the nice comments everyone. You too Phil and Steve. It will be nice to see you guys again at Healdsburg. I'm really looking forward to getting this guitar in my hands. I think Mike's Meridian model is at the pinnacle of hand-built acoustic guitars, both in looks and sound. John |

Here you go Steve.
Sorry for the late reply Steve, but here you go. I've been traveling for work and just got back yesterday.
Here are some photos from Mike showing the sides being bent: Here's the Cocobolo piece for the sharp/Florentine cutaway: Mike bends the sharp cutaway side piece by hand: I'll be updating this thread more regularly now. John Last edited by Cocobolo Kid; 10-01-2017 at 10:27 PM. |

More build photos
Here are some more build photos from Mike:
Top braces: The Spanish cedar for the inside part of the double-sides (they look and smell great, plus they are light in weight for how much strength they add): The box starting to take shape: The African blackwood fingerboard: The fine-grained mahogany neck blank: I can't wait to get my hands on this guitar! Thanks for following this build thread, John Last edited by Cocobolo Kid; 10-01-2017 at 10:41 PM. |

What are all the various grooves in the neck blank for?

My guess would be carbon fiber stability rods.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Just hadn't seen 4 of them on a single neck (I don't think anyway).

my guess is that those outside two are just the preliminary cnc perimeter edge routes. Could be wrong...looks like the "inside" routes are truss rod and CF. At least it appears to me proportionately to look like that.

Thanks
Thanks for all the nice words and bumps everyone.
I'll keep posting more photos as Mike sends them to me. I am getting very anxious now. Mike is anticipating a June delivery date if everything goes as planned. John |

Funny how the closer you get to the delivery date, the slower time seems to move!
