Great vid, thank you for posting.
I worked for 30 years as a lab technician. During a few jobs I was blown away by working alongside very precise machinists. One 7 year stint with a DOE research national lab I couldn't believe the tolerances that were designed on the assembly drawings... +/- .0003 of an inch. Seems like Jason designs also have very high build tolerances. That medium light string set he uses sounds interesting. I have my own custom set for a short scale Tom Anderson electric guitar that helps string to string with a balanced tension.

Jason was so nice to me two years ago at the SB show. His necks felt so interesting. Super comfortable and an addictive feeling carve that allowed for easy fingering and thumb rest. Nice heel design as well. Maybe that's why those 5 new presentation guitars sounded so strong? His guitars have a very bold voicing. Warm and beautiful.

I would love a MD cutaway someday.

Glad you guys liked it. I have yet to even see a Kostal guitar. I live in a horrible area for Boutique guitars. I have had a Kraut, and it sounded so amazing, but the neck was carved for the original owner, and was too thin for me. I just couldn't get use to it. I like a Mod V or D shape. Something with a little meat to it. My Åstrand is SO comfortable. Absolutely love it. He studied with Jason for a few months, and wonder if their "standard" neck shapes are similar?!?

p.s. Åstrand is pronounced Ō-strand, but most say it with an A sound, so much Ted even introduces himself that way. I like Ō-strand. If I made beautiful guitars, I would want my name pronounced right lol

I did not ask him specific about tonal quality. However, we did talk about my playing style and the type of music I play. Since he's a big fan of Michael Hedges (and plays it too), he quite understood what I was looking for. I don't know if all the luthiers "dial in" the tone to specific people or not, but hopefully, Jason got the idea.
