My new CD "What Tomorrow Brings" is here...
I'm really pleased to announce that my new CD is finally here...and I'm a little bewildered, as well!
It took me over two years and 4 complete start-to-finish recordings to finally get what I wanted, this due to recording mishaps and tendonitis injuries of all kind... ...but it's all water under the bridge, and I am quite happy with the finished album, all the way around...and who knows, really, what tomorrow will bring! Meanwhile, there are 14 tracks, 12 originals pieces along with my arrangement of "Waltzing Matilda" and a cover of Peter Lang's "When Kings Come Home." Some posts from other forums: ----- Fellow Guitarists, Larry Pattis was kind enough to give me a sneak peek at his new album, “What Tomorrow Brings”. I thought I would share my letter to Larry with you, since he would be ashamed to do so. I would hope that you folks would be intrigued enough to get this disc. Larry’s music needs to be heard. I haven’t heard a solo guitar album so well done in years. Larry, Your playing is just great. Beautiful composition. Very subtle technique, vibrato and attack, nothing unmusical about your work. Tasteful at every turn. I listened to each tune off of your new album “What Tomorrow Brings” not expecting to hear the level of mastery of composition and execution. You have a great future ahead of you. Your tunes are memorable and wonderful. All distinct, and played with such virtuosity, I can say for sure, this album will be getting a lot of spin time in my disc player. Your use of sustain, vibrato and open strings is unique, due to the fact that you do not let the melody suffer for the tricks, but play and compose tastefully at every turn. I hear a jazz player, writing pop, fingersyle guitar pieces, with an unspoken depth, and sophistication that outshines most in the genre. When you could settle for the commonplace, out comes a beautiful and original melody, with the most subtle of treatment. You have to be satisfied with such a great achievement. This really speaks to me. Thanks so much. I am a fan. Rob (Rob Bourassa on the AG Mag Forum, 9/2/2008) ---------- Wow. I'm more than a little impressed. More on this later, but get your wallets out, because you're going to love this one. I've had it on repeat play for about two hours. Larry's always had great chops, writes melodic and well structured songs, but his playing has taken on more "color" (for want of a better word). Expressive. Sadness I can feel in my gut, followed by a tune that makes you tap your toes. I hear a McMeen influence in the more melancholy tunes. dorgan (Bob Dorgan on RMMGA, 9/2/2008) ---------- I am fortunate to have in hand an advance copy of Larry's new CD, "What Tomorrow Brings". With his permission, I'd like to offer my initial impressions. This recording is a marvel of tone, sensitive playing, fine original compositions, and superior arranging skills. I fell in love with his arrangement of "Waltzing Matilda" from the YouTube video, but this studio recording of it takes everything about it several steps forward. His playing of embodies everything about the tune that I HOPE I would put into my orchestral conducting of it: super expressivity, beautiful tone, sincere emotion. I also love the title track a great deal. Great use of rubato and subtle dynamic contrasts here. I fine original tune that I hope to learn myself someday. The recorded sound is state-of-the-art, and the Woolson sounds fantastic. I urge you to treat yourself to this recording ASAP. It deserves national attention. Jenn (Posted on RMMGA on 9/1/2008 by Jenn Martin) ---------- So the soundclips are up on my website, and I thank the folks at the AGF for having a simply terrific forum....

Congrats Larry. Did you use a studio for final mastering or do it all yourself?

Congratulations, Larry!
Gotta have it! Any chance of a paid MP3 download for "foreigners" like myself?

Yes, eventually CD-Baby will have it as a high bit rate MP3, and it will also be carried by iTunes and all the other digital download outlets (not sure about bit rates for anyone but CD-Baby, so I recommend them...better quality music!).

It is going to take them at least a couple-three weeks, I would guess. Sorry, but *I* just received the CDs yesterday, and I am now dealing with all the sales, as well as a massive promotional situation, trying to get things out to over 300 radio station, a dozen or more magazine, several web-review sites, etc. For a while there I was simply waiting, with not much to do...and now I'm a bit swamped!
