Taking one on the plane, and investing in flight cases for the others, is another option. Wade has a more cost effective method, that uses a hard shell case placed inside of a cardboard shipping box. Maybe he will provide the details if you send him a PM. You could then pay the extra baggage charge per piece and save the cost of buying expensive flight cases.

You can purchase insurance, with a company that will cover loss or damage in international travel. Assuming you are currently living in the US, are not a professional musician, and have homeowners or renters insurance, you can list the guitars for their replacement value. Most policies will cover your goods, even internationally, up to a month after you leave your home.
