Veillette is now offering an import version of the Gryphon, the Avante Gryphon, with a list price in the $1500 range. Not cheap but about 1/3 the price of his USA version.

Years ago Veillette designed the Avante baritone guitar which was built by Alvarez. Veillette still uses Alvarez pickups and preamps, even on their high end instruments. I wouldn't be surprised if the Avante Gryphon is also made by Alvarez. I'd love to see an Avante version of the Terz 12.

I made one once with a 20" scale for standard tuning. It also had a wedge body. It was comfortable, and easy to fret, but hard to play in tune due to the slackness of the strings. It sounded good to me, and I never got any complaints from the customer.
