Default Reaper/DAW Tutorials and websites

I have the recording bug. Can you suggest tutorials/websites that will help me become adept at using Reaper? Much of it seems intuitive to me (coming from an old analog ham radio/commercial radio operator c. 1970-80's), but some of it is murky too. At this time. I'll be using it for overdubbing, enhancement of vocal and guitar tracks, and probably will add a few additional instrument tracks into the mix.

I understand signal chains and controls on the effects, but would love to have a cable to plug from one into the other - or at least a big fat arrow! I miss switches that click, pots that slide, and cables that plug in(Let's not forget boards that short out when doused in Coca-cola).

Thanks in advance.

Best,

Rick

When I auditioned Reaper for the 60 day trial
I found Kenny Gioia's video tutorials to be a great resource they are organized in a fairly logical sequence from 'Introduction" on

They are the tutorials accessed directly from the Reaper web sight.

On the right side of this page "Video's watch and learn"

https://www.reaper.fm/

As far as a "big red arrow" in the GUI of the "mixer" the signal flow is somewhat like it is in a analog hardware mixing console with the signal coming in the top of individual channel strip (track) and going out the bottom. Which means you can determine the sequence of any FX inserts by placing them in the order you want top to bottom. For example you can place an EQ on top with a Compressor below it and you will be compressing an EQ'ed signal But if you reverse the order you would then be EQ'ing a compressed signal. etc . so the beauty of digital over analog is you do not have to keep changing cables in order to experiment with different sequences of effect.

I strongly recommend reading all the sections of the user manual that pertain to what you are doing, too.

I believe Cockos has a Reaper forum where you can ask and get answers to specific questions as well.

Pretty amazing as to what I've been able to do in just a few days of messing around. Now if it could only improve my playing and my voice (I know, I know,
autotune and overdubbing)

What you will most likely find is that because recording tends to reveal everything in more detail the good and the bad, and it takes more effort and concentration to produce an emotionally convincing recording than live performance it can actually serve to help and inspire you to play and sing better and will ultimately help to make live performance all the better.
