I like the last line of the song "Old School" as dome by John Conlee and written by Russell Smith.
The song is about an old high school girlfriend who married another guy and then was divorced. At a 20 year reunion she has a dance with the guy telling the story. At which time she whispers they could rekindle tie fire. He's moved on and has a family etc. etc. Throughout the song he seems to wonder "what if" As the song ends after her remark he says: I'm from the old school...............I thought you were too. |

Look
I understand too little too late I realize there are things you say and do You can never take back But what would you be if you didn't even try You have to try So after a lot of thought I'd like to reconsider Please If it's not too late Make it a cheeseburger Lyle Lovett |

Well, this is a bit of a cheat because the line is part of the chorus and is repeated several times during the song. However, it is also the last line of the song:

It's Main Street after midnight just like it was before
21 months later at the local grocery store Sherry buys a paper and a cold 6-pack of beer The headlines read that Sonny is going to the chair She pulls back onto Main Street in her new Mercedes Benz The road goes on forever and the party never ends 'The Road Goes On Forever' Robert Earl Keen |

If you need me, the way I know I need you,
There's just one thing, I'll ask you to do, Take my hand and lead me, to the hole in your garden wall, and pull me through...pull me through. Jackson Browne, Your Bright Baby Blues

Since the last verse of this song is a repeat of the first verse, it's actually the second to last verse that has the wonderful line:
She may be gone from this life we know She may have frozen in the ice and snow But there's a secret that my heart can't tell Except to say That she's safe and well. From "Jamie's Secret" by David Wilcox |
