Default Tell me about your OOO18

I love my OM28 so much. Such a rich tone. I do love Mahogany as well and the specs look really fantastic for me. So for those who have one tell me all about it.

my 2016 000-18 has classic Martin Sitka/Mh tone.
The tone is not as deep as my Goodall's but it is not quiet or boxxy.
It is woody, airy and has overtones that blend. Love the low mids.
Very smooth player.
Love the tighter string spacing at the saddle, even for fingerstyle.
I also like the plain jane look although I put Waverly snakewood tuners on. Tasty look without the large chrome buttons.

I’ll 2nd tippy’s comments. I’ll also add that I just recently switched from dreads to OM/000 guitars. Sold my D-28 & D-18 and guess what, now have an OM-28 and 000-18.

These 2 guitars really compliment one another well, the 28 is more powerful, rich and loud. The 18 is woody, warm and articulate. The short scale also makes bends that much easier.

I saw a nice vintage 000-18 at Acoustic Music.Org. Forgot the year but it's around late 40's to 50's. They also have a similar vintage 00-18. I think I liked that one even better. It sounded like an old Martin, the sound that sticks in your brain. It's what a guitar is supposed to sound like. If I wasn't so shallow and into shiny and new I'd have to make one mine.

I had a newer 00018. It is a great guitar for the price. But I also have a OM-28 that there was no comparison to me since the OM-28 sounds much clearer, open and louder. The 00018 was sold. All what your ears are listening for but hard to compare the two.

I bought a '15 000-18 custom shop today. After comparing an OM28 and it I felt the clear airy full balanced tone spoke to me and was the right fit. And hey it was my birthday so an added bonus. I got to try a m36, om28A, om 18A an om 21 as well. The it factor was there for this special one I got. I need to research why it was custom shop next week. (Per neck block and orig tag in case)

Mine's an older one, with a lovely dry, balanced tone.
The short scale & body size is pretty much ideal pour moi.

I have an OM-35 with rosewood back and sides that is now 11 years old.

Since I had a milestone birthday coming, I wanted to build a custom 6 string with 3 piece mahogany back and sides and landed on a 12 fret 000, short scale. While some of the specs matched the OM-35 including 1 & 3/4 low profile neck, scalloped bracing and teardrop pick guard, other were a departure.

7 month projected build date took 5.5 months and the sound is incredible.

I have a 2013 00018 with scalloped bracing and the PA neck. It has a lovely balanced tone. More bass than you would expect but not as much as my Larrivee OM-03. Nice sweet top end and sustain that goes on forever. The PA neck is a dream to play. It is lightly built, (or light weight anyway) like an older Martin.

I bought a used 00028EC for $1600. It was an affordable way to get a retro 000. Its a really nice sounding guitar for everything I do. I also had a unique opportunity to play it next to a "real" 000 from the 30s. my EC certainly held it's own surprising all of us in the room. K&K works very well with it.

Great guitar and the short scale is definitely noticeable! I suppose if I didn’t own the D-18 custom I have, that I would give this one serious consideration. Oh, and I much prefer the Sitka 000-18 standard over the discontinued Adi topped 000-18GE. The standard is more airy, more sustainy, and a better all-arounder IMO.

I have mine (000-18 built in 2016) since 2 monthes.
For me it's the perfect guitar for fingerpicking. I also like it for flatpicking when I play mainly single notes. It is not my first choice for strumming chords to accompany a singer.
All in all there could be more bass for my taste, sometimes I wear a thumbpick for to compensate that.
This may sound somewhat negative. I actually really love it. It's just that it is not the perfect and flawless guitar for just everything - and be honest guys that's what we are always hoping for, right? But it just doesn't exist. On the long term I will have to find a shortscale dread or so, for to cover the songs in which I strum chords to accompany.

I've had my 000-18 since January and get a lot of enjoyment out of playing it. I have all dreads and this is a big change. It's such a nice playing guitar with the new neck and short scale. Sounds really good and great for bending strings. I am not thinking om28 or 000-28ec. I think the om28 will project much more than a 000-18 but it has such a sweet sound. Check out the nstuff video on it.

I have a 72. It’s beat up but it’s got much character and it sounds great.

It’s taken many many years to find that one model that just fits with the combo of looks, sound and comfort. The 000-18 has finally been that guitar for me.

I still have the photo of it from when I first laid eyes on it a few years ago. I hadn’t even played it yet but when I locked eyes I fell in love with the mojo
