Strings for National O-14 rez?
Just got my first rez, a National O-14 (14-fret, single cone, all metal body, factory pickup). I play fingerstyle blues, with reinforced fingernails (not picks, and no slide), both amplified and unplugged. The current strings sound fine (though a little noisy), and are pretty light, uncoated, but I don't know the brand. I prefer a light string, and use Elixirs and similar on my regular guitars.
Suggestions? Thanks! Bill

John Pearse makes a Reso set specifically for Nationals and they're very good.

Thanks! I like their armrests, too.

I like GHS-White bronze or Martin Monels on my NRP 12-Fret. 12s work fine, 13s do sound better but are a bit harder on the fingers. I assume they pickup ok but don't know for sure, I use a clip on mic with mine.

Thanks. I was wondering is medium-to-light would be sufficient.

Newtone make great strings for National guitars, definitely worth a try.
Round core strings, in my experience they last for ages, sound good and are comfortable under the fingers. https://www.newtonestrings.com/shop/...uitar-strings/ |
