Michael Kelly Guitars
For some reason, my Facebook feed is frequently showing ads for Michael Kelly guitars. I have to give it to him, some of them are gorgeous (in photos at least) especially his burl Tele. Anyone know anything about these.... any good?

Thumbs up!
I love my Hourglass, a Santana-style solidbody with gorgeous cosmetics, including the highly figured maple top and large abalone fret markers. Two splittable pickups give me all the tones I want, and it plays very smoothly. Not bad for $250 used. If I'd paid twice or four times as much, I think I'd still like it.
The only drawback I could name is factory parts. After I lost a string ferrule, the company was unable to offer a replacement. It was an unusually small ferrule, so I haven't found it from the usual sources. Someday I may have to have it drilled out to fit standard size ferrules. |
