Default Dobro live, mic ? Pickup ? Piezo ? Amp ?

Hi !

I'm working on a set (Kind of garage blues band) and I'd like to include a Dobro.
I got a cheap Harley Benton with a stock mini-hum pickup.

I tried to plug it in my Fender Blues Deluxe but... It lacks of the "organic metal vibe"...
Surprisingly it's better on my Marshall Valvestate (Transistor).

But it's still a bit more electric than acoustic...

The piezos I heard live sound too bright and aggressive to me.

I heard of the B-Band and Fishman Resolpa. Have you ever tried these ?

Of course a classic mic would be the best, but not ideal for live...

Maybe I thought an acoustic amp would be better ?

Or a better pickup can change something ?

I also thought of a tie-clip mic, good or bad idea ?

As you can see I'm LOST and don't have a lot of money to put on the table...

What do you use for playing your Dobro live ?

Thanks a lot !

Here's a tune called "Let Me Lift Your Burden" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7P7MwFjbgY& in which our lead guitarist plays a dobro mic'd via an EV ND767a supercardioid dynamic mic.

Our dobro player uses a SDC mic on a long goose neck for all our gigs.

I have a Schatten pickup on my steel body National that gets a great acoustic sound and really captures the sound. I run it through a preamp/DI for a little eq and volume boost and it can hang with a pretty loud stage and still sound like what it is. I've also used it with an acoustic amp and it worked well.

My Wood body biscuit style resonator has a single coil Tele style pickup that sounds better through a tube amp for a more electric slide sound.

I think if you want a more natural acoustic sound but loud enough for a full band the Schatten with an acoustic amp or a preamp will sound great. You could leave the mini humbucker in there for when you want a more electric sound and have some versatility.

Talking about real Dobros - I used to have one with a McIntyre feather which worked quite well (on a Quarterman cone).

My current Dobro (Model 27 Deluxe) had to have a lot of work as they are made wrong. It now has a Beard cone and corrective spider. It doesn't need invboard electrics - best with a good mic - such as an AKG CS1000.
