My vote would be for a grand auditorium guitar made of the mahogany from The Tree with a cedar top, bloodwood binding, and inlay only at the twelfth fret.

Not a big fan of bloodwood.....but like the grand auditorium made with tree. Cedar top or maybe if you have some nice singer redwood. Maybe use mad rose or brz rw bindings since it works color wise with redwood top and tree sides.

tree or cocobolo, 00, deep body, twelve fret, adi top and bracing, 1 13/16ths nut, bone bone and bone. Maybe ziricote or figured ebony for fretboard rosette bridge and veneers... a little koa or maple or whatever for binding, but super wide binding...
I think this style which has been in vogue in europe (AKA Parlor/lap) seems to be taken more seriously here too as well and can be seen as a fine tool for an acoustic jazz or "fingerstylist." See SCGC Eric Skye. The SCGC and Bourgeois all mahogany bare bones model is certainly making a killing...

If I had the photoshop skills I'd make a mock up, but alas I don't. I'd love to see an all wood guitar, i.e, no bling, but maybe other wood details/accents,etc. Maybe a cedar top paired with the 'tree' as that seems to be the frontrunner here. Some sort of spalted rosette, maple binding, ebony bridge/fretboard. Tree peghead veneer with no logo. Maybe place the logo at the 12th fret, and if there was any abalone/inlay, it would be just that. Everything else just pure wood.. anyway, my .02

Markart has it right. Let the wood do the speaking. Wood binding, Wood Rossette, wood purfling.
Wood is fantastic, show it off.

+1 for all wood. What a good idea.
If that curly macassar doesn't make it, I'd be willing to, uh, um, take it off your hands. |

Personally, I'm not a fan of the look of mahogany guitars and find it hard to like the look of "The Tree." Of course, it would look amazing but in comparison to a wood like ebony or ziricote I just can't pick the mahogany over it I must be mad.
Here's an idea... make both, the mahogany and the ebony idea... Either way, I love your work Peter so I give two thumbs up to anything you choose . |

+1 on "the tree" mahogany with either redwood or cedar top, ebony or rosewood bindings.

I'd say that beautifully striped mac ebony. Lots of character and strong visual interest. I dig the idea of the moth as an inlay on the 12th. That would look pretty cool

I agree the mac ebony is sweet. I also like the idea of a heavily figured top (AKA bearclaw italian) with a sunburst to highlight the woods movement-

Whatever you choose Peter--and I'm sure you'll choose well--put a "K" on the peghead. I'll send you the logo, and pick it up at Healdsburg.

Keep 'the 'tree' for commissioned guitars for clients who know what they're getting, and go with the Italian spruce over tiger myrtle with a flamed mahogany neck. That's a guitar whose wood will speak for itself and give you the visual pizzazz you need to stand out at a guitar show. You know you want to.... |
